Qualifications, Curriculum and Certification Unit

The QCC unit is responsible for the development and management of the General and Further Education and Training Qualifications Sub-Framework which forms part of the National Qualifications Framework, and for the certification of learner attainment.

The Unit carries out the following functions:

  • Develops and implements policy in respect of the General and Further Education and Training Qualifications Sub-Framework;
  • Ensures the development of new qualifications and their underpinning curricula;
  • Evaluates new and reviewed qualifications and curricula;
  • Through the Qualifications Standards Committee of Council it recommends qualifications for approval by Council and for registration on the NQF by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA);
  • Certifies qualifications on the General and Further Education and Training Qualifications Sub-Framework
  • Verifies qualifications certified by Umalusi.
